Stoughton Hospital was awarded a $500 Quarles & Brady – RWHC Community Engagement Award for its dementia friendly community collaborations. Stoughton Hospital has taken a leading role with the Dementia Friendly Stoughton Coalition which supports the unique needs of people with dementia. Having this support helps reduce isolation and stigma, so affected individuals and their caregivers can remain active and engaged in the community, while enjoying an improved quality of life.
Stoughton Hospital President/CEO Dan DeGroot presented the check to the Dementia Friendly Stoughton Coalition to help the coalition further its work. “Stoughton Hospital is proud to be a dementia friendly community leader, and to support the Dementia Friendly Stoughton Coalition with this award.”
Stoughton Hospital has partnered with the Dementia Friendly Stoughton Coalition to host free educational talks, virtual dementia tours and the monthly Memory Café. In the past year, the coalition has expanded from 18 to 32 businesses and organizations who are dementia trained.
