The volunteers at Stoughton Hospital generously donate over 10,000 annual hours of their time and talents to supplement and enhance the efforts of our staff in delivering the best healthcare possible. Volunteers add to the comfort, care and well-being of our patients. Volunteers are needed in many areas of the hospital. Whatever your interest or abilities, we have the opportunity that’s just right for you to use old skills or develop new ones, make new friends and gain that good feeling that comes from helping others.
We also have special volunteer opportunities for teenagers with both our REV and Volunteen Programs.
Stoughton Hospital volunteers are provided orientation and training for which they are best suited. Make a difference for yourself as well as our patients, their families and our staff. Café Cashier – Close to Home Café
Interacts with customers and operates the cash register system for payment transactions and miscellaneous other duties. This position requires basic math skills, good communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service as a representative of Stoughton Hospital.

Cardiac Rehab Volunteer
This position is responsible for assembling packets of paperwork for Cardiac Rehab patients and making copies of handouts and educational classes. Must be willing to talk and interact with the patients. Helps with follow-up phone calls to patients and also some light cleaning of equipment such as blood pressure cuffs. Also helps with promotion of annual events such as Heart Walk, Cardiac Rehab week and October Heart Month. Looking for someone with good communication skills and clerical/data entry skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Clinic Clerk at the Foot Clinic
This position checks patients in for foot clinic appointments, collects payments, schedules appointments, and assists staff as needed. This position requires good communication skills, the ability to provide excellent customer service as a representative of Stoughton Hospital, a valid driver’s license, and good organizational skills.

Escort at Front Desk
This position provides transportation of customers and/or materials throughout the hospital and clinic facility. Also helps assist at the Front Desk by answering questions for customers/visitors, giving directions (showing the way rather than pointing), occasionally taking/placing phone calls. Assist customers who are coming in and going out of the hospital by holding the door, pushing wheelchairs, and just making them feel welcome. This position requires good communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, wheelchair safety and the ability to provide excellent customer service as a representative of Stoughton Hospital.

Fleet Car Attendant Volunteer
Neat Nicks wanted! Stoughton Hospital is seeking a volunteer to service our fleet cars. The fleet cars mostly service the Home Health program. Duties include inspecting the cars and completing a routine conditions report, retrieving a car from the fleet, driving the car to a local detail service and returning the car to the dedicated parking areas. Volunteers with an eye for detail and a love for a clean car are welcome to apply. This position requires good communication skills, the ability to provide excellent customer service as a representative of Stoughton Hospital, and a valid driver’s license.
- Ideally one evening per week from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Will consider other hours based on volunteer availability and detail service schedule.
Gift Shop Clerk Volunteer
Stoughton Hospital’s Gift Shop is looking for Gift Shop Clerk Volunteers to assist customers.
This position requires good communication skills, the ability to provide excellent customer service as a representative of Stoughton Hospital, accuracy in handling money, willingness to learn check out with a cash resister system, and be a member of Partners of Stoughton Hospital. Volunteers greet customers, become familiar with the inventory, help with suggestions, and keep shop clean and presentable.
- Shifts are 9:00 a.m. – noon or noon – 3:00 p.m. weekdays.
Mail Delivery Volunteer
This position is responsible for timely distribution of mail throughout the hospital. Sorts mail into appropriate mail files and then delivers mail using the mail distribution cart. This position requires the ability to read and sort mail by department and/or manager. Must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the shift and also be able to push the mail cart.

Patient Meal Tray Delivery & Kitchen – Close to Home Café
Delivers meals to patients and sets up the meal tray so the patient is able to begin eating. Uses two patient identifiers to verify delivery to the correct patient. The meal tray is left outside the patient room and nursing staff is alerted in specific situations. Kitchen duties include placing clean items from the dish machine in the proper storage locations and . miscellaneous other duties. This position requires good communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service as a representative of Stoughton Hospital.

This position sits with patients who may be confused, anxious and/or at risk of falling to ensure their safety. Some patients may welcome conversations, playing cards/games/being read to, etc… This person would not be expected to perform any patient care duties but rather be able to call for help when needed. Training of the call light system and bed controls will be provided. This position requires good interpersonal skills, someone who is friendly/empathetic, good communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Evenings/Nights: Monday – Sunday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
The greatest need is from the hours of 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. Ideally looking for a pool of volunteers who can cover shifts when needed.
Teen Volunteer Opportunities
The Rehab Experience Volunteer program offers teens and young adults an opportunity to develop communication skills while learning about rehabilitation services.
The Volunteen Program is a volunteer program for students ages 14 to 18 interested in healthcare and working with our patients in a
supervised, supportive environment.
